Job summary

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust delivering care on the Isle of Wight is delighted to be able to offer a Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship.

Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to become caring, compassionate professionals who uphold the values of the NHS and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) professional standards.

Through undertaking a variety of diverse clinical placements, combined with a rigorous academic programme, our apprentice nurses will develop and deliver skilled, evidence-based care in partnership with patients, families, and communities.

The duration of the course is 3 years and is a balance of theory and practice, delivered through a combination of practice-based and academic modules. There may be the opportunity to Apply for Prior Learning/ recognition of previous academic credit, depending on past achievements, this is awarded at the discretion of the University-if awarded this could reduce the duration of the programme.

You will receive a training salary during your 3 year training programme starting at £24567 pa, rising incrementally each year. Once qualified you will start on the bottom of Band 5.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice will become a Registered Nurse, accountable to the Nursing and Midwifery Council and (NMC) Code. They will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and behaviours relevant to employment as a Registered Nurse.

Main duties of the job

Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a registered nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.

* Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values.

* Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.

* Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professionals dependent on setting.

* Work with their practice assessor and supervisor/s to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace, while on placements and through attending the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship programme.

* Provide feedback to assist in the evaluation of the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship programme.

* Develop, by the end of the Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship, the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the individual's defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice.

* Evidence of completed, relevant study applicable to Healthcare at Level 3 or above.
