About the Role

The post holder will be a member of the Isle of Wight Acute Mental Health Team by supporting the delivery of high-quality psychology provision within the service. The team provides a service for adults with a range of complex mental health problems. Psychological therapies provide a range of interventions, including both individual and group-based work. You will work as an applied practitioner under clinical supervision of the Psychological Therapist. They will contribute to assessment and intervention plans for service users. The post holder will contribute to supporting teams in the acute pathway through involvement in group work, training workshops, team audits and service development projects.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist, you will:

Assist in the provision of a psychological service to service users accessing the community mental health team under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist.

Plan and prioritise of own workload and activities following the direction, guidelines and supervision of the Clinical Psychologist.

Undertake assessments and implement programmes of care and psychology intervention, including one to one work with clients, group interventions and psycho-educational workshops under clinical supervision.

Work within the guidelines given by the clinical supervisor and assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit/research projects and teaching projects as directed by the Clinical Psychologist.

  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
