Senior Mental Health Practitioner

Job summary

We are looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our Recovery Service Team on the Isle of Wight.

You will have responsibility for the supervision of a locality team within the wider Mental Health Recovery Team multi-disciplinary and leadership structure.

Working within an integrated Mental Health Recovery Team providing mental health services to a caseload of service users with complex mental health problems.

You will provide high quality mental health interventions in conjunction with other professionals.

As part of the role you will work in partnership with other agencies to provide seamless, flexible services which meet service user and carer need.

Main duties of the job

*To ensure and take responsibility for the team's provision of comprehensive assessments of needs and risks of people referred to the service.

*To co-ordinate team's care provision, including responses to complex and immediate concerns when they arise.

*To take responsibility for the team's planning and the delivery of care to people requiring an acute and intensive response from this service.

*To plan and take responsibility in collaborating with service users and their carers/families together with other services/agencies on how people's needs are going to be met in short and longer term situations.

*To be active in the development of the service and continued development of professional practice and role.

*To ensure that relationships and own behaviour are managed in line with the Trust's Equalities Framework competencies.

*To ensure all communications are undertaken in a sensitive, confidential and professional manner.

*Interdisciplinary working and liaison with internal and external agencies to promote holistic and person centred care and inclusion.

*To take into account the physical, psychological, spiritual and social care needs of all people referred into the service.

  • RN [MH] with live NMC registration or OT or Social worker with current professional registration.
  • Training in Risk assessment and management skills.

Desirable

  • Post registration training in evidence based psychological interventions.
  • Evidence of undertaking audit work
  • Innovative, creative and a willingness to try new ideas
  • Nurse Mentorship
  • Qualification or relevant professional equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in the assessment and management of people with serious and enduring mental health problems
  • Current, clean driving licence
  • Access to own transport for work purposes
  • Training in the management of violence and aggression/breakaway
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills
  • Able to work effectively in crisis situations in order to maintain the safety of both staff and clients
