Job summary

HIOW Healthcare is looking for an enthusiastic, capable & caring individual to join our Community Nursing Team in Southampton as a Health Care Support Worker.

If successful, you will be working as part of the Community Nursing Team based at Bitterne Health Centre. Community Nursing provides care and treatment for adults with complex health and care needs. You will be lone working but part of a supportive team. Full Time 37.5 hours per week.

Candidates will ideally possess an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, full training will be provided to enable you to fulfil your role. i.e. training sessions, online and working 1:1 with clinical staff. The role includes:

  • Wound care - chronic and acute
  • Prevention, identification and management of pressure ulcers
  • Administration of medications, including some injectable
  • Continence care
  • Supporting end of life care
  • Working with health and social care teams

Community Nursing covers from 0830-2200, 7 days a week. Shift patterns 0830-1630 & 1400-2200 to include weekends and Bank Holidays, with an expectation of working 1 in 4 weekends.

Health Care Support Workers are vital in helping us provide essential care and support to our patients to help them remain well and at home.

Main duties of the job

As a health care support worker, you will be part of a team who supports the delivery of nursing care to clients within their own home environment.

Ensure that patients receive safe, individualised and effective standards of care by following care plans and treatment interventions as delegated by the registered nurse.

Under delegation of the nurse in charge, work competently and without direct supervision within an agreed framework.
