The closing date is 20 July 2025

Job summary

Are you passionate about making a difference to adults with learning disabilities who are in hospital?

An exciting post has become available to facilitate the safe, effective and accessible quality care delivery for adults with a learning disability within an acute hospital service.

The post will be based across three Hampshire acute hospitals, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. The post will primarily be based in Basingstoke, however, will involve travelling regularly between the three hospitals (a minibus between sites is available if required).

Main duties of the job

You will be working within the hospitals to support and meet the needs of adults with a learning disability, by ensuring that they do not face health inequalities and that reasonable adjustments are considered and implemented wherever possible. You will be working directly with hospital staff and with people with learning disabilities who are inpatients, outpatients, planned or emergency admissions to the hospitals and their carers.

We are looking for a Learning Disability Nurse who is motivated, dynamic and passionate about making a real difference to the lives of and improving health outcomes of adults with learning disabilities.

You will need to demonstrate effective nursing and inter-personal skills, have good communication and presentation skills, be organised, and have the self-motivation and ability to work autonomously where required.

This is a great opportunity where you will be involved in supporting the service operating Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm within Hampshire Hospitals, working under the direction and supervision of the Lead Learning Disability Hospital Liaison Nurse.

If you would like to discuss this post, please contact Beth Lyon, Lead Learning Disability Hospital Liaison Nurse on Email: beth.lyon@hhft.nhs.uk or telephone number: 01256 319892 / 07920100461
