We are looking for a Specialist Nurse to join our team in a development role!
The service promotes bladder & bowel health, along with all aspects of pelvic floor dysfunction through interventions by specifically trained Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and a Women's Health Physiotherapist.
The team provides an assessment and treatment service for patients with bladder and bowel dysfunction, following clinical pathways agreed by Consultants and GPs. The Bladder and Bowel service also assesses and provides continence containment products following the Trust Formulary appropriate to the clinical need of the patient.
Referrals are accepted from any health care professional or self-referral for people registered with a Southampton City GP area, as well as registered with a GP across West Hampshire for the Level 2 Specialist Clinics.
You would be expected to complete a program of learning and development through the first 6-12 months, and once competencies are completed and there is evidence of sustained competency the post will be converted to a Band 6 position.
On completion of the development program, this is a 22.5 hours per week clinical facing role, the service operates Monday to Friday 08:30-16:30, excluding Bank Holidays. Flexible working patterns can be discussed if they support the delivery of the service.

Main duties of the job
To support the opportunity for an experienced Band 5 Registered Nurse with an interest in the Bladder & Bowel Specialism to develop the clinical, leadership and managerial competencies needed to become a Band 6 Specialist Nurse.
The successful candidate will work towards playing a key role in the co-ordination of the Bladder and Bowel Service, helping to provide a high-quality specialist service to patients.
They will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence-based nursing care in relation to bladder and bowel.
To develop the skills to be able to provide expert advice and advanced clinical practice within the field of bladder and bowel.
To develop and provide specialist education and training to others.
They will work collaboratively and co-operatively with clinical colleagues to develop services and quality of care delivery.
To assist the team lead to develop the clinical service within the specialist field.
To promote the quality programmes of bladder and bowel care across the Trust, so as to ensure successful & equitable delivery of appropriate bladder and bowel care.
To actively engage in the Trust Quality agenda, maintaining a culture of service improvement which promotes quality, safety and striving to do better.
