Job summary
Provide a qualified highly specialist trauma informed psychological service to patients on the treatment pathway across the primary care service from within the PCN. The post holder will work as part of a multi-professional team within the PCN to support and facilitate the co-production of bespoke formulation driven psychological interventions. Providing a consistent, constant point of contact that is easily accessible within a local GP practice and facilitating access to additional support where required in line with the no wrong door approach.
The post holder will provide high quality specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions and prioritise their own clinical workload. At the same time providing expert advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to the PMHT (Primary Mental Health Team), PCN professional community, non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers.
The post holder will work as an autonomous, independent practitioner responsible for own work and intervention and for the interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies in providing a highly specialist psychological therapies service. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
To comment and propose change to policy or service development within the area psychological service and team.
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the clinical team.
To demonstrate an attitude which respects and values patients and their carers and the core values of the trust: patients and people first; partnership; and respect.
To ensure systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support for all other practitioners within the PCNS for which the post holder has designated professional responsibility, including the identification of CPD needs across the PCN.
The characteristics of the core population include people diagnosed with enduring mental health needs (psychosis, bi-polar, complex depression) and complex emotional needs who may find it difficult to:
make or maintain relationships
connect with other people, including friends, family or work colleagues
manage and control their emotions
cope with life and difficult feelings
control their behaviours and impulses
The post holder will be expected to develop a holistic formulation, working with patients identified with an underlying condition in the context of the formulation derived. This may include formulating and understanding a range of behaviours, including disordered eating, in the context of trauma informed formulation.

- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology AND HCPC Registration
