Job summary
Come and join our friendly, creative service in Southampton and Hampshire! We have an opportunity for a Band 5 therapist with RCSLT and HCPC registration to join our enthusiastic and person-centred team. We work with adults with Learning Disabilities in the community, empowering them to live healthier, happier lives.
You will work within our multi-professional Community Learning Disability Team, supporting people to meet their communication and/or dysphagia goals.
You will be directly supervised by a senior Speech and Language Therapist, though an ability to work autonomously will be integral to the role.
You will be well supported by the immediate multi-disciplinary team and will also benefit from linking closely with the Speech and Language Therapists across Hampshire's Community Learning Disability Teams. We have an active journal club and meet regularly for Continuing Professional Development, peer supervision and service development.
Previous post-holders have praised the availability and responsiveness of seniors, the emphasis on holistic working and maintaining a small, specialist caseload.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 therapist looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in this specialist field. Full-time hours and part-time hours will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The post holder has responsibility to provide Speech and Language Therapy in the Community Learning Disability Team (and for the Centralised Speech and Language Therapy service) to Adults with a Learning Disability, including providing advice according to experience in this speciality to other professionals. The assessments and interventions undertaken by the SLT service will be embedded within the framework of:
oThe principles of MDT working
oThe holistic model of care (4 tier model)
oThe 7 clinical areas of practice
