We have a rare opportunity for you to join the team at Lymington New Forest Hospital (LNFH) and have a positive impact on the lives of adults with communication and / or swallowing difficulties. This post is a full time (1.0) permanent B6 role.
Located in the beautiful New Forest and within easy commuting distance of local cities and award winning beaches, we are looking to recruit a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team based at LNFH. This role offers you autonomy and independence, with excellent clinical supervision, to work across a range of multidisciplinary inpatient, rehabilitation and community settings. There will be opportunities to participate in our weekly videofluoroscopy clinic.
You must have dysphagia experience to be considered for this role.
Main duties of the job
To act as a specialist speech and language therapist within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team which includes adults with complex acquired dysphagia and/or communication impairment.
Provide specialist speech and language therapy cover to inpatient medical wards and stroke rehabilitation unit at Lymington New Forest Hospital. There will be occasional assessments required for inpatients at Romsey Hospital.
To provide community Speech and Language therapy cover to the New Forest Stroke ESD team and West Hampshire Home Enteral Nutrition Service.
Work as part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to joint working, MDT decision making and meetings.
Provide Specialist Speech and Language assessment, intervention, advice and training to adults, their carers and other professionals and agencies involved with the person.
To independently manage a defined caseload using evidence based/ client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To be responsible for prioritisation of caseload.
Provide training to health care professionals and support therapy groups as required.
To be involved in service development projects as appropriate.
To assist in videofluoroscopy clinic (additional training can be required)
