Job summary
This post will act as the the key driver to design, deliver and evaluate health and well-being programmes for individuals within mental health inpatient settings. To provide support and guidance to staff to ensure mental health and physical well-being issues are addressed and to identify the most appropriate outcome data to be used in evaluating the programmes established.
Main duties of the job
*Secure and aspire to the highest standards of clinical care by providing leadership to professional nursing and multi-disciplinary team.
*Work at all times within the NMC Code of Practice.
*Ensure that clinical, support and administrative services are designed and delivered to achieve the highest standards of patient care.
*Ensures patients, carer involvement in the development of services and promotes better health, social care and medicines management.
*Provide a visible, accessible and professionally authoritative presence for staff, clients/patients and their families within the clinical setting to ensure that the physical health and well-being needs of individuals with mental health problems are fully assessed and understood, and that services are able to respond accordingly to address these.
*Provide leadership to practitioners in the Mental Health Service to facilitate the development of knowledge and skills necessary for mental and physical health needs of all patients to be identified and addressed.
*To establish and maintain strong links between secondary mental health services and primary care to ensure individuals with mental illnesses receive fair and equitable services in relation to their physical health and well-being.
*Work with the clinical education team and clinical team leads to design, deliver and evaluate specialist education and learning programmes for staff to increase awareness and understanding of physical health and mental health problems.
