Job summary
Hampshire CAMHS North Early Help Service are offering an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team covering the Basingstoke area (this may expand to a larger geographical area in due course) as a Band 5 Primary Mental Health Worker. A core qualification and professional registration in nursing, social work or occupational therapist is essential. You will have a knowledge of assessment and an understanding of mental health presentations in children and young people, and a systemic appreciation of the dynamics within families. You will have knowledge of therapeutic skills and demonstrable experience in managing risk and complexity; risk assessment, care planning and care management and collaborative working with young people and families as this is a key part of this role. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health challenges is highly desirable. This role would suit those who are newly qualified or experienced but looking for a new challenge.
The service is undergoing a period of growth and development, as we seek to expand and develop our stepped model of care for young people, delivering a range of evidence-based group interventions. You will undertake regular CAMHS assessments to ascertain young people's suitability for our service, and there may be occasional opportunities to deliver specialist and evidence based therapeutic interventions to small numbers of young people. Supporting our Duty function is also an integral part of the role.
Main duties of the job
You will be liaising with our community partners and internal and external stakeholders in the course of your work and there may be opportunities for supervision and line management responsibilities.
To work within the CAMHS PMHW team to provide a community based primary mental health service for children and young people as part of the primary tier of CAMHS.
To work with colleagues to offer consultation and advice to primary care workers on all aspects of mental health and wellbeing of children and their families.
To direct children and their families to the most appropriate service in order to meet their emotional needs.
To offer assessments individually and jointly with primary care colleagues.
To offer a variety of evidence based therapeutic interventions at tier 1 and 2 to children, young people and their families and to hold a small case load.
To work with your PMHW colleagues to deliver formal and informal training and education to all agencies involved with the emotional care of children and young people.
To work as part of the team in the Single Point of Access (SPA) in the service on a rotational basis.
