Job summary

Hampshire CAMHS North Early Help Service are offering an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team covering the West Hampshire area as a Band 5 Mental Nurse. A core qualification and professional registration in nursing is essential. You will have a knowledge of assessment and an understanding of mental health presentations in children, young people, and systemic dynamics within families. You will have knowledge of assessment, therapeutic skills and experience in managing risk assessment and complexity, care planning, delivering therapeutic intervention and collaborative working with young people and families as this is a key part of this role. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health challenges is highly desirable. This role would suit those who are newly qualified or experienced but looking for a new challenge.

The service is undergoing a period of growth and development and re structure as we seek to expand and develop our stepped model of care for young people, delivering a range of evidence-based group interventions. Supporting our Duty function is also an integral part of the role.

You will be liaising with our community partners and internal and external stakeholders in the course of your work

Main duties of the job

To provide a community based primary mental health service for children and young people as part of the CAMHS Early Help Service.

To offer consultation and advice to primary care workers on all aspects of mental health and well being of children and their families. To direct children and their families to the most appropriate service in order to meet their emotional needs.

To conduct mental health assessments with children, young people and their families, individually and jointly with primary care colleagues when appropriate.

To undertake robust risk assessments and care planning and respond to safeguarding concerns.

To offer a variety of evidence based therapeutic individual and group interventions and specialist workshops to children, young people and their families and to hold a small case load.

To support the delivery of a busy duty system

To engage in multi disciplinary meetings with other colleagues to clearly identify the best care for young people and their families.

To support local community events

To deliver formal and informal training and education on occasion to agencies involved with the emotional care of children and young people

This is a service that is also focussed on staff support and wellbeing, with team champions leading this work, reporting directly into the leadership team. Training and development opportunities are available , including a New To CAMHS induction programme, in house training and a commitment to ongoing CPD. We can support Nurses through preceptorship programmes.
