Main duties of the job
Provide specialist mental health care assessments for working-age adults and older people, including self-harm assessment, mental health emergencies, complex psychosocial and behavioural assessments, capacity assessment, and risk assessment.
Offer psychological support effectively and efficiently to patients with mental health needs who are temporarily in crisis or have mental health needs due to their physical illness or hospitalization.
Advise non-psychiatry staff on the outcome of assessments and formulate medical care plans based on clinical intervention and risk management.
Provide time-limited liaison follow-up appointments for patients with more complex and enduring mental health needs.
Work positively and collaboratively as an integral part of the Specialist Adult Mental Health Services and Older Peoples Mental Health Services, liaising effectively with multi-agency colleagues, patients, and their supporters.
Contribute to the development and quality of clinical practice of liaison work with this client group at local and national levels.
Provide mental health education, advice, and training to clinical staff and students, including medical students at HIOW
Ability to work independently
Awareness of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
