Job summary

Band 5 Education Mental Health Practitioner: Mental Health in Schools Team (MHST).

We are pleased to be recruiting to an Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) post within our Mental Health in Schools Team (MHST).

Southampton MHST offers city-wide coverage for its schools and colleges, where the teams will work within education settings to provide early intervention and prevention work for mild to moderate mental health issues and provide support to staff in schools and colleges. Teams also act as a link with local children and young people's mental health services.

The clinical team structure of the MHST consists of qualified EMHPs (this post), EMHP Supervisors, Senior Wellbeing Practitioner trainees and CBT Therapists. The team also comprises of the Team Manager, Clinical lead, and Clinical Team Coordinators, offering strong leadership and governance structures within the team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for candidates who hold an EMHP qualification to offer specialist knowledge and practice skills in delivering low intensity CBT evidence-based intervention for children and young people within education settings, with mild to moderate mental health problems, and offer consultations and training to local schools and colleges.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic mental health team in a creative environment where evidence-based interventions, new ideas, ways of working and supporting children and young people are actively encouraged.
