Catering Supervisor

Job summary
Solent NHS Trust are looking to recruit a Catering Supervisor to work at both the Royal South Hants and the Western Community Hospital. The role will involve supervising staff and supporting them with basic admin duties as well as carrying out 1-2-1's and appraisals. It is a hands on role and you will be involved in all aspects of the catering service both at ward level taking patient meal orders and serving food and drink as well as working in the kitchen area.
Shift will be allocated on a rostered basis and will involve some weekend working
Main duties of the job
Specific Hostess and Catering duties
Provide a patient centred approach at all times ensuring that patients privacy and dignity are respected. Specific duties will include:
- developing a meaningful rapport with patients and their relatives, demonstrating an awareness of individual patient needs
- assisting patients to complete menu cards and provide explanations regarding the choice available, taking into account cultural and religious choices
- ensuring patient concerns are feedback to nursing employees'
- serving food and beverages to patients ensuring that they are positioned within easy reach of the patients with cutlery and condiments as appropriate
- ensuring patients have access to fresh water where agreed with nursing employees'
- managing patient snacks e.g. for patients attending out-patient appointments ensuring that they meet the patients dietary needs
- ensuring patient food is labelled and correctly stored, ensuring food disclaimer forms are completed during each duty
- discussing patient treatment plans with nursing employees' to determine their effect on individual appetites and dietary requirements
- ensuring notices are displayed about protective mealtimes for patients and ensure that there is a suitable environment for eating
