Job summary

Our service has an exciting opportunity to join the Isle of Wight CAMHS (rated Good CQC) team as a Recruit to Train Trainee, training on the Children & Young People Mental Health (CYP-MH CYP IAPT) Therapy Course, part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Recruit to Train Programme in partnership with University of Reading. This is a 12 month fixed term post starting in Jan 2025.

The course, provided by the University of Reading as part of the role is a level 2 accredited course with BABCP. This means that upon completion of the course trainees will meet the criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP. See link for further details on the course -

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will carry out clinical work in our service to complement their studies and use their newly developed skills. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic mental health practitioners to work and train within our service. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using evidence-based intervention consistent with the course they are attending.

You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team of 30 clinicians who will all be keen to help and support you on your journey to accreditation.

Essential

  • Relevant Honours Degree (e.g. psychology, mental health, etc.) graded at 2.2 or above
  • or
  • If a candidate has a core profession (see below) but does not have an Honours degree or has an award of 2.3 or below, they will be asked to provide evidence of successful study at Level 6 or equivalent and be required to pass a pre-entry essay, marked at Masters level prior to acceptance on the training programme.
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families
  • Core profession as defined by the BABCP. Please see below
  • or
  • Completion of KSA (Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes) portfolio prior to entry onto the programme (this will be inspected at interview and must be completed fully by the induction date; any offer to a KSA route student is on this condition being met).
  • For any candidates who have previously completed a low intensity training programme (CWP or PWP for example), two years of qualified practice (after graduation) are required before undertaking any high intensity training programme (e.g. CYP PT or CYP CBT).
