EIP Clinical Psychologist

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 30 November 2024

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical psychologist in the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team in Southampton. We are seeking candidates with a commitment to working with people with psychosis and their families and carers.

The post could be appointed either as a band 7 preceptorship towards an 8a role or be appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly. We can put a development plan in place to support applicants wishing to be considered for a preceptorship. This post would be suitable for someone about to qualify as an Applied Psychologist and who will be registering with the Health Care Professions Council.

Main duties of the job

The EIP team provides timely support to service users in Southampton in line with national and local guidelines for people experiencing first episode psychosis. We are looking for an engaging, enthusiastic, and focused individual who is committed to working with a diverse, multi-cultural community. You will join a CBT Therapist and Assistant Psychologist in bringing psychologically-informed care to people experiencing first episode psychosis. Youi will offer direct input to service users and their families as well as providing supervision, consultation, and training to team staff. You will also contribute to service development and research.

You will work closely with colleagues in local services and across the Trust. You will also be part of Southampton Psychological Services (SPS), a large well-established psychological therapies team. We are a friendly and supportive team with a wealth of expertise including CBT, family interventions, DBT, CAT, ACT, EMDR and psychodynamic approaches. We have good supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as strong academic links.

Some additional sessions are potentially available to bring the post up to full-time. These sessions would involve offering psychological therapy on an outpatient basis: an ideal opportunity to consolidate your broader therapeutic skills.
