Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Band 7 specialist clinician (nurse, social worker, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist or other relevant registered professional) who will work alongside team and Band 7 leads to provide clinical leadership across the i2i Urgent Assessment and Home Treatment Team within Hampshire Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This is a permanent post of which full time or part time (30 hours) can be offered providing the applicant is able to work hours over at least 4 days.
You will need to have experience and a passion for working with young people at times of crisis. You will be supporting them to remain at home or supporting the step-down care from hospital. We have developed a crisis DBT pathway led from within the i2i team and therefore interest or experience in this is essential.
I2i is a county wide service that has three hubs across North and mid, South East and South West Hampshire. These are based in Basingstoke, Ashurst and Fareham. The successful candidate will be based in Ashurst and primarily cover the South West area of the county (New Forest and Eastleigh). There will be occasions whereby it is required to work in other areas across Hampshire. Travel time for this additional travel will be included within working hours.
If you enjoy being a part of a team, supporting the development of staff whilst making a positive difference to young people and seeking a new challenge then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust currently delivers the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Hampshire and this role will be based within the local i2i team in Hampshire. There are 7 community CAMHS teams across Hampshire as well as a dedicated Eating Disorder Service, an Early Help Service, Single Point of Access Team, digital team, Paediatric Psychiatric Liaison Team and i2i Urgent Assessment and Home Treatment Team. All of our teams work collaboratively and in partnership to deliver consistent high-quality care and treatment to the young people of Hampshire. The post holder for this position will be part of the i2i leadership team and help further establish roles and responsibilities within the team as we continue to embed aspects of service delivery such as DBT and additional crisis interventions.
The team covers the hours of 8am - 8pm weekdays and 10am - 6pm weekends and bank holidays. Shifts are managed by a flexible rota system. Being mobile is a key element of this role so the ability to drive and own a vehicle is essential.
This is a great time to join the service and to be part of building a creative and innovative offer for young people experiencing mental health difficulties. We are focused on providing outstanding care and treatment that young people and their families can be confident in. We have a strong clinical and managerial leadership structure, committed to staff wellbeing and professional development.
About us
Southern Health is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community-based services.
With a workforce of more than 7000 and a footprint that spans more than 200 sites across Hampshire, we're committed to providing the best possible healthcare, reaching a range of diverse communities, whilst placing patients and staff at the forefront of all our endeavours.
We are currently working closely with other NHS Trusts to combine all our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services, with the plan to create a new larger, more integrated and accessible organisation.
The transformation will happen in stages; Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning across in May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent NHS Trust services is expected in late 2024, when our new organisation, to be known as Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, will be formed.
Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.
Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to shape the future of healthcare in Hampshire.
