An amazing opportunity has arisen, whereby there are vacancies for a band 5 nurses on our newly purpose built, state of the art, nurse led female psychiatric intensive care -PICU (Abbey Ward), opened March 2023.

A specialist development plan has been devised providing all staff with bespoke training, ensuring staff have the required skills and knowledge, to provide the highest standards of safe care. The wards ethos focuses on staffs' wellbeing and professional development, to which all band 5s will be supervised by either an experienced band 6 or a band 7 nurse, this is to ensure ongoing professional development, whilst delivering the highest quality care.
Abbey ward is going to be the trail blazers for Antelope House in implementing new ways of working to improve patient care and experiences, as well as supporting staff in the process of alleviating potential pressures and improve working. These include, weekly carers clinic, which will be facilitated by senior nurses, weekly complex case discussion which will incorporate full MDT with reflective practice, which will aid you in your professional development and your clinical decision making.
Main duties of the job
As a newly qualified nurse you will undertake your preceptorship program for the first 6 months, where you will be supported/supervised by experienced band 6/7s. Throughout your preceptorship you will have mandatory training, monthly preceptorship days and support in house from practice development team. Once you have finished your preceptorship you will have many opportunities to continue to develop your professional practice.
As an experienced band 5, Abbey ward will facilitate progression pathways to band 6 dependent of you preferred pathway. Abbey ward offers both clinical and managerial band 6 opportunities, which will be tailored and worked towards through monthly supervision, coaching and appraisal.

Antelope House is based in the heart of Southampton with excellent transport links and close to the city centre, shops and parks. Excellent location, and great for further commutes such as London. Being part of the Antelope House team you will have opportunities to work across our 3 other wards, so that you can keep developing your skills.

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.
Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.
