Job summary

Are you a motivated, flexible and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with experience in mental health? Are you interested in a rewarding and challenging career opportunity in forensic mental health? If so, we are looking for a full time Band 6 OT at Southfield Low Secure Unit, to join our excellent team of occupational therapy staff, who have been recognised for their innovative and dynamic work.

This can be a full time substantive post or a secondment position with agreement from your current line manager. If full time work is not possible for you, consideration will be given to a 30 hour contract.

As a member of staff in the Forensic Service you will receive an enhancement, in additional to your salary, of 1,400.00 per year / pro rata.

Main duties of the job

You will work as a valued member of the Southfield multi-disciplinary team in the assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning for a caseload of male and female patients. The occupational therapy service uses the Vdt Model of Creative Ability and Model of Human Occupation, for which you will receive training.

As a Band 6 you will have responsibility for staff supervision and opportunities to develop your leadership skills. Once you have settled into the role, you will be support to explore special interests such as project work or research.

You will receive a comprehensive induction together with an agreed programme of continuing professional development. You will become part of the network of OT Specialist Practitioners in Adult Specialist Services, on the Tatchbury site, where you will get peer support and opportunities to share knowledge and resources. You will also form part of the Low Secure Forum which will offer further support and opportunities.
