Job summary

We have an exciting and rare opportunity for an experienced and dynamic mental health practitioner to join our well established and innovative Hampshire CAMHS service within the Fareham & Gosport Community CAMHS Team. The role involves undertaking comprehensive assessments for children and young people suspected of having ADHD and ASD, formulating the assessments and presenting your findings at a Multi-disciplinary Neurodevelopmental team meeting to determine if the criteria for a diagnosis has been met and what the most appropriate pathway would be. This is a great opportunity to gain specialist knowledge and develop your skills in a rapidly growing clinical area.

You will be joining a friendly, supportive and creative multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing a high-quality service which complements the work done by our wider CAMHS colleagues and in liaison/partnership with other key young people's services. Our core business includes assessing young people's mental health, including attention to risk management and care planning, and working with families and the wider systems that support these young people. Hampshire CAMHS has a strong multi professional leadership team and you would be working alongside experienced clinical and management colleagues, where innovation is valued and supported. Supported by the Lead for ADHD and ASD alongside your team colleagues you will work to ensure a high standard of performance and quality for the children and young people you see.

Main duties of the job

As a clinician in our team you will also provide specialist assessments and interventions for children and young people referred into our service and contribute to our duty assessments for risk and duty reviews.

You will manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. We follow a multi-disciplinary approach and as such you will provide specialist assessment and intervention with specific responsibilities regarding the neurodevelopmental care pathway.

In order to be a successful Mental Health Practitioner in our team you will be:

  • Registered with the NMC or HCPC via a core professional qualification
  • Applications are welcomed from Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Social Workers, Creative Therapists
  • Experienced in risk management
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and varied role
  • Experienced working within a mental health setting

It would also be advantageous if you are:

  • Experienced working in CAMHS (Children and Young Peoples mental health services)
