Job summary

Petersfield Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)

We are a practitioner led service committed to delivering high quality care to the local population of Petersfield and the surrounding areas. The UTC operates 08:00 -- 20:00 hours, 365 days a year, offering treatment for both minor injury and minor illness to adults and children. Patients can pre-book appointments through NHS 111 as well as walk-in attendance.

This is a patient facing role. The successful applicants should be an experienced receptionist, with good communication and organisational skills. Duties will include booking patients into the department, taking telephone enquiries and referring them to the appropriate practitioner, monitoring the booked 111 appointments, data collection, arranging out-patient clinic appointments and general administrative support for the clinical lead and practitioners. Proficiency in computing skills will be required though training on the specific computer systems used will be given.

Good communication skills are essential when dealing with patients both in person and via the telephone. A professional and sensitive manner is required to be always maintained. The post holder will be required to liaise with patients and therefore requires courtesy, discretion, and confidentiality at all times.

Main duties of the job

*To provide high standards of care for patients and their families by supporting a team of Nurse Practitioners in their assessment and implement the planned care and safe discharge.

*To support the nurse practitioners, staff nurses and associate practitioners in the delivery of direct patient care.

*To contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing practice within the MIU.

*Participate as an effective member of the nursing team.
