Job summary

Are you looking for a new opportunity to develop your management and leadership skills then this post is for you. We are seeking a fixed term band 8a service manager for the Older Persons Community Mental Health teams covering the Mid and North division of Southern Health.

You will be responsible for the clinical and operational delivery of service and care for our older population. There are opportunities to further develop how this service can be delivered across the various elements and the post holder will work closely with colleagues within the team to continue to deliver high quality care whilst shaping the service.

Main duties of the job

To drive forward the transformation of OPMH CMHT care across the North and Mid Hampshire Mental Health Services in line with policies and guidelines

To lead health care, and promote a culture based on principles of recovery, choice and personalised care, in which service users can expect to be active in decision making about their care and treatment

To liaise with partner agencies to ensure transitions of care and joint working are effective and safe

To work in an effective partnership with senior clinicians in the service

To deploy the capacity of the service in order to ensure that demand is met by the most appropriately skilled practitioners, this includes being accountable for delivery of a proactive caseload management system

To ensure the service works in line with agreed pathways, policies and guidelines, and is focussed on delivery of outcomes

To coordinate the management of the senior multidisciplinary operational team leaders, ensuring effective training, ongoing professional development and professional supervision is maintained for all staff

To manage financial resources efficiently and in line with agreed plans & budgets

To understand and contribute to the management of the wider environment and stakeholders eg commissioning

To assist the Head of Operations in the strategic development of local secondary care mental health services and integration with partner agencies

The transformation will happen in staggered stages; Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.
