Job summary

*Are you looking for an opportunity to use your knowledge and skills to help people that require the use of specialist equipment?

*Are you someone that always ensures that communications are handled professionally and courteously, considering the client's needs and circumstances?

*Are you able to Maintain and repair manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment and happy to do so at either client's homes or other designated addresses?

*Do you have the skills to recondition relinquished manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment?

*Do you have the ability to provide support to the Occupation Therapists and Rehabilitation Engineers as required?

We are looking for someone that would would thrive on advising, teaching clients carers and professionals on the use of manual and powered wheelchairs and associated equipment

You will need to be able to drive the allocated service vehicle in a safe manner, checking daily that it is in road worthy condition and reporting defects to the workshop supervisor.

You will also need to deliver loan equipment where repair at workshop is required.

Main duties of the job

Working positively with colleagues to maintain effective relationships. Be able to Plan, Prioritise and organise work loads, To be able to understand work orders and carry out work in line with job specifications given, To be able to adapt working in different environments of peoples homes, Schools and public places

The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.

Essential

  • *NVQ in appropriate discipline to level 2 or equivalent experience.
  • *Full driving licence.
  • *Literate and numerate to GCSE standard.

Experience

  • *Working knowledge of mechanical repair and basic electrical/electronic repair.
  • *Good interpersonal skills.
  • *Ability to work unsupervised in a variety of locations.
  • *Proven competence with the use of hand tools.
  • *Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the workplace.
  • *Ability to adapt to changeable demands in a developing service.

Desirable

  • *Electro-mechanical assembly experience. Service repair experience
  • *Experience in working in a wheelchair repair service.
