Job summary

An exciting opportunity for 2 Practitioners has arisen to be part of a creative and innovative multidisciplinary CAMHS team in Hampshire. The post holders will be supported by and professionally responsible to the Lead for Children in Care and contribute to a countywide service for Children in Care.We are seeking highly motivated clinicians who have a passion for working collaboratively with Children in Care and their complex family and professional systems. The role would suit highly experienced therapists, psychologists, social workers or other appropriately qualified clinicians with the relevant professional registration.

The Post Holders will;

Provide research based, expert clinical consultancy, support, supervision and training to staff and managers caring for children and adolescents presenting with complex challenging behaviours and resident within Local Authority Childrens Homes across Hampshire and support to other Specialist CAMHS staff working with children, under the age of nine, with complex challenging needs.

Be the first resource to be consulted by senior mangers regarding setting up support for local authority residential care managers and staff.

Provide direct therapeutic support to children and adolescents resident in Childrens Homes and assess and treat generic referrals from Specialist CAMHS.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A relevant Specialist CAMHS Professional Qualification e.g. Child Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy or Nursing
  • MSc or equivalent post-graduate qualification in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology
  • MSc or equivalent post-graduate qualification incorporating an expert knowledge of Organisational Dynamics
  • Evidence of Supervisory Training

Desirable

  • Training in Group Analysis
  • Training in Art /Play or other Creative Therapies

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of normal child development
  • Sound understanding of the impact of trauma/maltreatment on normal child development
  • Sound understanding of maladaptive defensive behaviour
  • Ability to recognise the impact of changes in the wider organisation on children and young people looked after in the public care sector
  • Sound knowledge in managing and defusing violence and aggression
  • Understanding of the impact of violence and aggression on members of staff and de-briefing strategies
  • Significant post registration clinical experience (with experience at Senior Level)
  • Proven experience of providing multi-agency consultancy in a specialised field
  • Proven leadership experience
