Hazel Ward is a dedicated Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit consisting of 10 intensive care beds for male service users of working age across the Hampshire area.

We are a multi award-winning team dedicated to caring for service users in the least restrictive way possible. We are proud winners of the Reducing Restrictive Practice, Quality Improvement Star Award in 2020 & the 'People's choice' award for Patient Safety in 2021.

You can expect ongoing support from a dedicated supervisor who will provide clinical support & facilitate your ongoing development. There is opportunity to further your training & take a lead role in areas of interest. We will provide access to training relevant to your role as a Staff Nurse & an opportunity to develop beyond this with access to the Southern Health Academy of Clinical Excellence.

We know how important a work life balance is & we are open to flexible working. There is an expectation to work unsocial hours & to meet the needs of the service, but we welcome & consider applications for part time working & condensed hours.

Parklands Hospital is comprised of five separate mental health wards, including two acute-admission wards, a PICU, & two Older People's Mental Health wards as well as a Community Crisis Team & Psychiatric Liaison Team. Free parking is available on site.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the provision of a 24 hour, seven day inpatient service.

Take charge of a ward regularly and undertake duties delegated by the Clinical Ward Manager.

Provide clinical leadership and support the management of the ward including deployment, supervision, teaching of staff/students and resources.

Assess individual care needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care as well as setting standards of care.

Take responsibility for the management, deployment and supervision of junior staff in the unit throughout the span of duty when on night duty.

You will work as an active member of the wider unit team, taking lead responsibility for a key project/ subject matter.

You will be required to prioritise attendance at all training, attend supervision and apply reflective practice continuously to enable learning needs to be identified and met.
