Job summary

This role will be based mainly at Melbury Lodge where our team provides clinical pharmacy services to a mix of inpatient Mental Health wards (Adult Mental Health and Older Persons) and our inpatient Mother and Baby unit. We also support Leigh House Hospital which provides inpatient mental health care to Adolescents (age 12-18). Additional cover may be required at other Trust sites such as Parklands hospital periodically.

Pharmacists are a valued part of MDTs and you will have the opportunity to support patient care from admission to discharge. We utilise WellSky (CMM) ePrescribing hosted by neighbouring acute trust to support paper-free prescribing and supply.

Our wider medicines management team have experience of range of sectors including Acute Hospital, Community and Prison Services. We can provide training and support as appropriate. We welcome applicants from both band 6 and band 7 posts.

We encourage staff to build their knowledge in areas of clinical interest by getting involved in guideline production and other projects across the Trust. Non-clinical work may be conducted from a combination of on-site and remote locations. Applications from previously community-based pharmacists are welcome.

Our pharmacy team are NOT contracted to fulfil on-call, weekends or late-nights.

Main duties of the job

*To deliver a comprehensive clinical pharmacy medicines optimisation service to wards and teams in line with clinical pharmacy standards.

*To provide input into policy and procedures affecting the use of pharmaceuticals at both local and trust wide levels under the direction of a Principal Pharmacist

*To work towards quality improvement (QI) initiatives in line with the trusts QI vision and with direction from a Principal Pharmacist.

*To be involved in the cost-effective use of medicines across the organisation.

*To undertake medicine related audits within the division.

*To support pharmacy technicians in their delivery of a clinical/operational service.

*To provide specialist advice on pharmaceutical matters undertaking risk management and ensuring compliance with medicines legislation.

*To improve the communication of pharmaceutical information across the interface.

*To deputise for the divisional lead pharmacist.

*To provide cover for other clinical pharmacists.
