22.5 hours Term Time
Exciting opportunities have arisen within Southern Health Foundation Trust to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic School Nurse Assistant to join the Rushmoor & Hart School Nursing team.

We are looking for motivated professionals with good knowledge and experience of working with children, young people and families. You should have the ability to work within a skill mixed team to deliver allocated components of the Healthy Child Programme.
Working as a team player under the delegation of the School Nurse your role will require you to work in partnership with schools, to promote and enhance the health and well-being of children and families.
With a positive approach to customer care you will need to be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, including an ability to relate well with children and young people. It will also be essential for the applicant to be able to prioritise their workload and manage time effectively.
Applicants must have excellent IT skills as this role will include the recording of clinical data on the electronic record system.
A full driving licence, access to a car and insurance for business use.
Main duties of the job
Support the School Nurse Team to ensure delivery of delegated elements of the Healthy Child Programme 5-19 in order to improve health outcomes for children and families and achieve Trust Key targets
To coordinate sessions within schools to undertake the school entry vision screening in accordance with Trust Policy and Guidelines
To coordinate and undertake the screening of height and weight measurements in Year R and Year 6, to support the National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP) as delegated by the line manager, in accordance with National and Trust policy and guidelines
Undertake reviews of vision, height and weight as delegated and report the results back promptly
To deliver evidenced based public health programmes within schools as determined by public health data and driven by the needs of the local population.
To adhere to Hampshire Safeguarding Childrens Board (HSCB) and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust (SHFT) policies and procedures
To ensure accurate record keeping using the electronic patient record (RIO) and the management of clinical records in accordance with the Lifecycle and Records Management Policy (SHFT)
Support the induction of new starters and students
To highlight any risks, adverse events or near misses to the line manager/Clinical Team Lead and record this using the electronic incident reporting system
To work with a degree of accountability and to the policies and guidelines of the Trust.
