Job summary
Band 7 ward Manager -- Hamtun Ward
Hamtun Ward is a male PICU at Antelope House, which is a busy city centre mental health hospital serving the diverse and multi-cultural population of Southampton.
We are looking for a skilled RMN who has demonstrable post registration experience and leadership experience in an acute inpatient setting. The post requires the necessary skills to lead, support colleagues, and be visible and accessible to staff.
There will also be an expectation of participation in the ward MDT as well as complex and high risk case discussions, development of therapeutic standards across the unit as a whole, working with your peers from other wards, regular involvement in patient flow and bed management decisions, making active contributions to the quality and patient safety initiatives and supporting your ward maximize care delivery through regular audits, benchmarking and peer reviews.
You will be expected to maintain and develop your practice working alongside colleagues on the ward, managing HR processes, supervision, performance and quality and will also include participating in the Duty Senior Nurse rota.
Main duties of the job
You will be a registered mental health nurse with evidence of continued learning and development at an advanced level. We are looking for someone that has experience of supervising staff and running a multi -disciplinary team, you will have proven organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. You will have experience of recruitment, managing rosters, sickness management and audit work. Evidence of staff coaching and delegation, and developing teams, would also be a strength. Drive and determination and resilience under pressure are essential for this important role.
You will receive support from an experienced leadership team and work closely with the clinical leads. The trust has an excellent training and development programme to enhance your career development.
