Job summary

We are currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our lively and busy multi-disciplinary team.

This role is exciting and challenging and the focus will be on, assessment of the occupational performance needs and developing intervention plans, with a caseload of service users who are under our Acute Mental Health Services in the Southwest. This covers both an inpatient ward as well as a Reablement Team (community based).

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to enhance and develop their skills as a newly qualified Occupational Therapist, or someone who wants to explore new opportunities. You will need to enjoy working in a busy environment, managing multiple priorities, and be able to work under pressure.

We can offer you the opportunity to work in a supportive team, with regular support and in-service training from your line manager to further develop your skills in this area of work.

If this sounds of interest to you and you would like to find out more, then we would love to hear from you!

Please see job description for further information of the role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work on both Kingsley ward and within the Reablement team in the community, as part of the West Acute Care Pathway.

Within Kingsley, the expectation is that the post holder will work with service users to maximise function, using Occupational Therapy techniques as the main medium of assessment and intervention and applying client focused principles throughout.

The post holder will be expected to complete assessments as well as provide some interventions as deemed appropriate by both group work and individual sessions.

Within the Reablement team, the expectation is that the post holder will hold a caseload, working with service users who have occupational performance deficits within the community. Practitioners may be required to work flexibly, providing potentially a 7 day a week service between the hours of 8am and 10pm if needed.

The post holder will have a working understanding of the principles of recovery and how to aid the Reablement process through the use of, for example, goal setting and problem solving.

The post holder will be a qualified Occupational Therapist, and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
