Job summary

We are recruiting for Staff Nurses for our 5 Mental Health Inpatient Wards. You create/deliver care plans, contribute to Quality Improvement and will advocate for service users. There is an expectation to work unsocial.
*Elmwood Ward - A 17 bed Organic Dementia ward. We offer assessment and nursing care to vulnerable adults. We are known to manage complex challenging behaviours leading to a safe discharge. For further info, please contact Ester Muteto on 01256 376441.
*Beechwood Ward - An 18 bed Older Person's Acute Admission Ward. We promote least restrictive practice and have a very experienced team on Beechwood ward. For further info, please contact Elaine Comez on 01256 376432.
*Hazel Ward - PICU - A 10 bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit for male service users of working age. We aim to provide a service to people who are detained under the Mental Health Act. For further info, please contact Charlotte Dodd on 01256 376536.
*Cherry Ward - A 16 bed female only ward, with a further 2 MoD speciality beds, for patients with acute mental health needs. For further info, please contact Clare Thomas, Ward Manager on 01256 303070.
*Juniper Ward - An 18 bed male only ward with a further 6 MoD speciality beds. We hold a morning meeting with our patients to plan the day and address any challenges. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to contribute where required to the provision of a 24 hour, seven day acute inpatient service.
You will work under the supervision of the Ward Manager and Nurse Team Leaders, adhering to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines. You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
You will develop, implement and evaluate care plans in conjunction with patients, carers and other professionals ensuring individual needs are met. You will carry out all relevant forms of care, taking charge of the ward from time to time as allocated. As part of your professional development programme, you will be expected to attend additional training and actively participate in monthly supervision.
You will work as an active member of the wider unit team, taking lead responsibility for a key project/ subject matter.
You will be required to prioritise attendance at all training, attend supervision and apply reflective practice continuously to enable learning needs to be identified and met.
