Job summary

Would you like to be part of developing Occupational Therapy services within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, mid&north Hampshire?

We are excited to develop Occupational Therapy services that work in close collaboration with the adult mental health multi disciplinary teams, to offer service users person centred, recovery focused care that optimises prognoses and health outcomes.

The post holder will be working within the community Reablement Team, with service users in their own home/communities, applying Occupational Therapy principles of goal setting, prioritising goals, recognising strengths and grading/adapting activities, to support an individual to engage in meaningful occupation, thereby maximise function and improve quality of life/support mental health recovery.

The role includes travel across the Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover areas. The post holder will be part of a supportive team, whom are passionate about and value Occupational Therapy intervention, and how OT can contribute toward an individuals mental health recovery.

Occupational Therapy provision covers community (Reablement Team) and inpatient (Parklands Hospital, Basingstoke) in the mid and north Hants division.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work across the mid and north division supporting service users in their local community and home environments. The reablement team provides support to adults who have an open referral to their local community mental health team (Basingstoke, Winchester,, Andover)..

The expectation is that the post holder will work with service users to maximise function, using Occupational Therapy techniques as the main medium of assessment and intervention and applying client focused principles throughout. The post holder will be expected to complete assessments as well as provide some interventions as deemed appropriate by both group work and individual sessions. The post holder will have a working understanding of the principles of recovery through the use of goal setting and problem solving.

The post holder will be a qualified Occupational Therapist, and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
