Applied Psychologist or Accredited Psychological Therapist
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust
This job is now closed
Job summary
Our Acute MH Care Service comprises a purpose-built in-patient unit (34 beds) and a Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, which works with people in crisis to offer an alternative to in-patient admission. We also work closely with our neighbouring in-patient rehabilitation unit (15 beds). Psychological therapies are seen as integral to the Acute MH Care Service and are highly valued in this setting.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist, Counselling Psychologist or Accredited Psychological Therapist to take a senior role in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire (PSEH) Acute MH Care Service and Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT). We are looking for a motivated and dedicated person who enjoys the pace of acute work and who is looking to develop their leadership skills as an experienced clinician.
In an exciting development we are currently expanding the clinical leadership roles for psychological professions; the rehabilitation unit is led by a Consultant Psychologist Approved Clinician (AC) and a second Psychologist within the division is pursuing AC status.
This is an invaluable opportunity for a Practitioner Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to really contribute to a recovery agenda within an acute service and to develop their clinical expertise and their skills in leadership and consultation.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join the dedicated team based at the CRHTT base in Fareham. We have good supervision structures and an excellent track record of CPD, as well as good links with Southampton University, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and the Post Graduate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy programme. You would be part of PSEH Psychological Services, which is comprised of 32 psychologists and specialists in psychological therapy with expertise in CBT, DBT, CAT and EMDR.
You will already have experience of working with people with complex difficulties and with people in crisis. You will also be committed to promoting psychological ideas within a multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will be expected to work with Lead Psychologist for Acute MH Care in the training and supervision of staff. This role will also enable you to build on audit and research skills by taking innovations forward at a strategic level and by contributing to how the team implements policies and procedures.
