Job summary
Queen Alexandra Self Harm Clinic is an innovative newly developing service for adults presenting to the Emergency Department with self harm. You will join the service lead and principal clinical psychologist, in developing a therapeutic service based on a model of offering six session Cognitive Analytic Therapy, plus one session follow-up. As a newly developing service, research, audit, and service evaluation will be an integral aspect to the role and developing the service further, as will liaison and consultation with allied services.
The post holder will contribute to shaping the vision and delivery of the QASHC, a dynamic and expanding service using a six session CAT intervention. In addition, there will be opportunities to gain experience within the wider Portsmouth & South East Hampshire Psychological Services. This role, in a psychology-led service, will involve assessment and intervention in addition to training and supervision of staff ,liaison and consultation to allied services. This role will also enable you to build on audit and research skills.
You will be part of the Portsmouth & South East Hampshire Psychological Services, which is comprised of 20 Psychologists and Psychological Therapists with expertise in CBT, DBT, CAT, Art Therapy, IPT, ACT,CFT and EMDR.

Main duties of the job
*To provide a qualified psychology service to clients of the Queen Alexandra Self Harm Clinic, as agreed with the Lead Psychologist.
*To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
*To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
*To carry out other clinical work, research activity and training as agreed with the Lead Psychologist which may be in other departments within the General Hospital and related to other health conditions.
*To be responsible for some junior Psychology staff which may include Band 7 Clinical Psychologists, attached Doctoral Trainees on placement, Clinical Associate Psychologists (Caps), Assistant Psychologists or Undergraduate Psychology Students on placement.
*To be responsible for an on-going programme of personal professional development.
