Medical Lead for Petersfield Urgent Treatment Centre

Job summary

We are seeking an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) Medical Lead Doctor to work within the UTC based at Petersfield Community Hospital.

We are looking for a forward-thinking, creative individual, to join our UTC team sharing joint accountability and leadership of the governance in the department. This is an exciting opportunity to work within an experienced multi-professional team in a growing UTC and to develop the service.

We are a friendly and dynamic team with a forward-looking approach to service development, currently exploring the opportunities for building a research portfolio, clinical career progression opportunities, support for doctors in training and students, and the promotion of system working to enable high quality urgent care to people in the right setting.

This post will join the multi disciplinary team as the medical lead providing clinical input and providing medical oversight for all aspects of governance in the department.

As this is a part time role there are opportunities for GP applicant to work additional sessions as a GP within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust within the Willow Group (Gosport) and/or Shakespeare Road (Basingstoke) if this of interest. For non-GP applicants, sessions in elderly care, psychiatry and several other specialist areas linked to Community Hospitals or Community Specialist Teams could also be explored.

This post will be managed by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust (SHFT) and is subject to NHS Terms and Conditions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the UTC Clinical Lead, Head of Operations and Head of Nursing & Allied Health Professionals to set and maintain clinical practice standards within a Governance and Regulatory framework. Acting as an exemplary role model, the post holder will ensure evidence-based practice is shared and developed within the clinical team taking every opportunity to promote innovative practice and optimise clinical outcomes.

The post holder will jointly lead and develop a learning culture in line with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust's networking principles, creating a climate of collaboration embedded within the delivery of the UTC Service & Quality Improvement strategy.

As a transformational Medical leader the post holder will be instrumental in the development of sustainable and safe operational models of delivery for the UTC as the service moves forward

Salary will be dependant on experience and medical grade

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Completed a minimum of 12 years' medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty. Equivalent years' experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades, including from overseas, can also be considered.
  • MRCGP or MRCP

Desirable

  • Further qualifications at Diploma or MSc level in related subjects. Or on Specialist or GP Register
