Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated aspiring researcher and/or aspiring psychologist to join our busy and friendly Research & Innovation team and our amazing Psychology team within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The role of the Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner is to provide clinical and administrative support for clinical research trials including data collection and data management support. This post will be primarily working within the Mental Health portfolio, but the team work across specialities at times and joint work with our Physical Health team.
As an assistant psychologist, you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You'll provide clinical support to patients under the supervision of a psychologist. You will be provided with ongoing supervision to help you self-reflect and to assist in your professional development.
This is a unique role within the NHS. Research is considered an important component of a successful NHS provider organisation and there are a number of active on-going clinical trials and service evaluations. Research trials are important to ensure that the best advice and treatments are being provided to patients. As both an Assistant Clinical Research Practitioner and Assistant Psychologist within Southern Health, you will be able to support research across psychology services throughout the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Research is a critical component of successful NHS provider organisations, ensuring that clinical practice is based upon the latest evidence, and that all patients treated, and service users supported by Southern Health, receive the opportunity to take part in research.
It is also a key element of the continuing development of staff, providing stimulating opportunities for professional and personal growth.
The post holder will support the set up and delivery of the portfolio of mental health research across the Trust, including meeting with clinical teams, recruiting participants and completing study measures and administration.
This post will also include time spent within the psychology services within Mid and North Hampshire. The post holder will be required to support and enhance the delivery of psychological assessment and interventions within the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and/or the acute care services. For this work, the post-holder will work under the direct supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist, independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. Under the supervision and management of a clinical psychologist, the post holder will hold a clinical caseload. The post holder will also be required to complete clinically related administration, outcome measurement, and assist in the development of audit and/or research projects across the psychology service.
