Job summary

The Estates Services Catering Team is looking for a Chef to work with the team on site providing fresh cook options to the client base and managing day to day operations in the kitchen, there is also a possibility of being asked/ offered to work at other trust locations when the needs arise.

The main catering provision is provided as a counter service to our clients, with some provision to the wards. This also involves the preparation of fresh sandwiches, salads and vegetables, and keeping the catering area clean following trust standards.

The successful applicant should have a working knowledge of a catering operation and its supporting services.

The vacancy is for 37.5 hours per week; the post is for 5 over 7 days including early and late shifts and weekends as required. There is an unsocial payment made for weekend and bank holiday work that could uplift the salary by approximately 10%.

There is also a generous leave entitlement starting at 27 days plus bank holidays and increasing at periods of long service (to 33 days plus bank holidays), and the NHS offers an attractive pension scheme for all employees as well.

You will be required to work alongside other team members, but also on your own. We are looking for someone who is able to be flexible and who will be happy to work alongside our other band 3's, maintaining a consistent level of service across each mealtime.

Main duties of the job

*To lead/ manage daily work within the kitchen team for the Catering Service.

*To produce fresh cooked food following approved recipes, with an awareness of why this is needed.

*To ensure food service meets exacting required standards.

*To be responsible for catering staff and carry out appraisals.

*To liaise with patients, relatives, ward staff, and outside agencies.

*To provide training and ensure staff training is up to date.

*To meet delegated budgetary expectations.

*To ensure equipment is maintained.

*Responsible for Health & Safety in the kitchen.

*To Order And Receive Deliveries.
