Job summary
As an activities coordinator you are expected to deliver a range of recreational activities which are accessible and therapeutically valuable for the service users as they progress through their journey of recovery.
Within your role you will help to develop and support service users in programmes of physical and creative activities, facilitate group and individual sessions while promoting self-occupation and autonomous activities. Through your activities you will provide a sense of enjoyment, satisfaction, and growth in self esteem of service users and in doing so instil the importance of activities for mental health and wellbeing
Ideally, we are looking for each activity coordinator to cover 5 days per week, afternoons - evenings (including weekends). However, some flexibility can be offered.

Main duties of the job
To deliver a range of recreational activities which are accessible and meaningful to service users / young people in order to:
*help individuals exercise choice in how to structure their time
*provide a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction
*offer opportunity to take part in current interests or develop new ones and therefore contribute to their own recovery.
To develop and support service users / young people to engage in programmes of physical and creative activity meeting the needs of service users / young people of varying functional and physical ability.
To engage service users / young people, across the unit, in group or individual sessions. Working as part of the nursing team, to contribute to a 7 day programme which includes evenings.
To encourage and support service users / young people with self-occupation and autonomous activity.
To support service users / young people during their treatment in hospital by instilling the importance of activity for mental health and offering emotional and functional support when required.
