Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 exercise rehabilitation Instructor to join our service wide MSK rehabilitation team. Our service believes in educating and empowering patients to manage their MSK problems for the longer term and our rehabilitation team form a big part of this. This post is full time (37.5 hours per week) and will be predominantly based within our Lymington locality. There will be a requirement to travel to other departments within the New Forest patch.

The successful candidate will be autonomous in the prescription, delivery, and progression of rehabilitation programmes (including 1:1 and group classes) for patients. They will work cohesively with the local MSK service to deliver a holistic programme that is patient centred.

Lymington New Forest Hospital offers a modern gym set up within a medium sized modern hospital. You will be part of a large team comprising of registered MSK staff, exercise rehabilitation practitioners and admin staff.

Main duties of the job

The wider outpatient MSK service works closely with musculoskeletal specialists within Southern Health as well as our Consultant Physiotherapist. We receive both GP and Consultant Physiotherapy referrals.

We are committed to continued professional development and promoting evidence-based practice and a high standard of care throughout the service. There is an extensive professional development programme in place for all staff. The successful candidate will have regular supervision, participate in the regular department and in-service training programme, and attend Trust-Wide Study days. After one year the individual will have annual opportunities to apply for external course funding. They will work as part of an innovative, enthusiastic, and supportive team. This role is suitable to newly qualified or experienced fitness instructors, or equivalent, wishing to specialise in musculoskeletal healthcare.
