Job summary

The opportunity has arisen to appoint a Finance Assistant within Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust's Finance Department. The post is part of the treasury/cash team that sits within the wider Financial Services team. It is full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent and requires daily working in the office.

Financial Services is a dynamic, enthusiastic team looking for an energetic and hardworking individual to join us. The appointment would suit applicants who either want to study, or have started studying AAT and have the drive, enthusiasm, and determination to succeed.

The Finance Department is situated at Tatchbury Mount, Calmore, SO40 2RZ (just off Junction 2 of the M27). There is free on-site parking and a caf.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will report to a Financial Services Accountant, and they will be undertaking a wide range of financial activities. For example, reviewing daily bank statements; inputting cash receipts on the system; posting petty cash journals; and recording corporate credit card spend. There is also the opportunity to gain some insight into management accounting through the raising of sales invoices.

The Financial Services team provides a shared financial service. It has responsibility for overseeing routine transactional processes ensuring sound financial control within the Trust's main exchequer accounts as well as its Charitable Funds. It also supports the Divisional Accounting teams, budget managers across the organisation, and produces the Trust's annual statutory accounts.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual (possibly new to finance or just starting out) to gain broad and invaluable experience to support their professional training and future career in the exciting and ever-changing environment of a successful NHS Foundation Trust.
