Job summary
This new 10 PA post in Adult Liaison Psychiatry has arisen in the Mental Health Liaison team, Portsmouth, to support the existing consultant Liaison Psychiatrist. As a psychiatrist, we are looking for a forward thinking, dynamic change agent who would offer first class clinical leadership within our Mental Health services. The post holder would work alongside and under the supervision of the 10 PA locum consultant liaison psychiatrist. Clinical work will focus on in-patients and those attending the Emergency Department in Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Main duties of the job
*undertaking assessments of patients newly referred to the team, as well as providing clinical supervision on and assessment of cases being seen by the practitioners.
*Providing medical treatment within a model of multi-disciplinary care
*Attending daily and weekly clinical team meetings and performing medi-cal duties that are decisions of that meeting
*Compiling a patient's history from a number of sources, and preparing case summaries
*discharge letters
*Preparing reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers' Hearings and giving evidence
*Liaising with other clinical teams within and outside the trust
*Liaising with medical and surgical specialists with regards the physical and mental health of the patients
*Undertaking Mental Health Act assessments

- 4 years at full-time postgraduate training or higher or equivalent experience with at least 2 years in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty
