Job summary

We are seeking a new Divisional Medical Director for Mental Health to join the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Division of Southern Health.

The Divisional Medical Director provides medical leadership and strategic direction in Southern Health's largest division, and is part of a Divisional Leadership team committed to an open and collaborative culture in which staff are supported to meet the challenges of the current healthcare environment.

The post would suit an experienced psychiatrist looking for a leadership challenge and an appetite for transformation. Success in the role requires the ability to engage well with patients, staff and external stakeholders and an openness for change driven by clinical teams.

The successful candidate will be well-supported by the Divisional Clinical Director, as well as the Deputy CMO for Mental Health and the Trust CMO. The post is offered as a full-time role, with the balance of the full-time role given over to clinical practice within the Division's mental health services. Less than full-time positions will be considered.

The position is offered with a relocation allowance (where applicable) and a negotiable recruitment payment for candidates with the right leadership experience and qualities.

If you are interested in the post and would like an informal conversation, or to arrange a visit, please contact

Dr Riaz Dharamshi (Clinical Director Portsmouth and SE Hampshire and Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Physical Health) on 07827 355440
