An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) to join the Medicines Management Team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust (SHFT). We are a well-established, supportive and friendly team of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians who specialise in mental health, adult and child community health and learning disabilities.

You will be based at Gosport War Memorial, and as part of the apprenticeship you will be required to work within the dispensary at St. Marys Community Health Campus based in Portsmouth.

You will be reimbursed for any travel expenses outside of your base for the duration of the apprenticeship.

The post is for up to 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with no weekend or late night commitments.

Main duties of the job

You will have the opportunity to be able to work across a varied range of specialities and units including adult and older persons mental health, physical health, forensic, mother and baby and community mental health. Making this a great opportunity to gain experience across a broad range of unique and specialist areas.

Our PTPT Apprentice will undertake a 2 year distance learning training programme with the University of East Anglia under the supervision and support of our pharmacy training team. As a blended learning course, trainees will work through a curriculum of interactive online learning, face to face study days and work-based learning.

Trainees who successfully complete the fixed term two year training programme, complete an e-portfolio and the end point assessment will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council and be able to practice as a registered Pharmacy Technician.

Successful applicants must have:

A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade A* - C (new grades 9-4) or equivalent, that must include Maths, English Language and Science.

Certificates will need to be provided prior to interview stage in order to be verified.
