Job summary
We are recruiting a highly motivated Supervisor to join the existing team delivering Family Nurse Partnership in Hampshire.
FNP is a national evidence-based programme that aims to improve the health and social outcomes for young expectant mothers and their babies from early pregnancy until their child is at least a year old. The programme must be delivered in accordance with the license which requires faithful replication of all its core model elements and a high regard for quality.
In addition the Supervisor will hold a small caseload of clients and work closely with other Family Nurse Supervisors delivering the service. You must have full driving license and be a car owner.
This is a demanding role combining clinical practice with a team leader and supervisory role, which requires a diverse set of skills and attributes as well as commitment to the ethos and principles of the Family Nurse Partnership programme.
Please note that the successful candidate for the Family Nurse Supervisor post will be required to attend a mandatory learning and mentoring programme. This will be offered flexibility in response to the successful candidates needs and will use a blended learning approach.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a first level Registered Nurse or Midwife with current NMC registration, educated to Degree level or equivalent with evidence of Masters level education. The post holder should have broad experience in areas such as Health Visiting, Public Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery or Paediatric Nursing within a community setting. The Supervisor will have strong leadership, management and supervisory skills; they will manage a team of Family Nurses and a Quality Support Officer while ensuring fidelity to the programme's licensing requirements.
1. To manage a team of family nurses (FNs) and the site Quality Support Officer.
2. To take responsibility for programme quality and adherence to the FNP licensing conditions.
3. To facilitate continual learning and service improvement, planning for and ensuring a local learning programme for each FN, to meet their own identified learning needs and to facilitate the team based elements of the FNP learning programme.
4. To use programme materials and methods in the clients' homes in order to achieve the following:
a) improve the outcomes of pregnancy;
b) improve children's health and development by enabling parents to provide more sensitive, responsive and competent care of them; and
c) improve parental life-course by helping parents plan future pregnancies, complete their education, and find work.
