Job summary

This post provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the psychological care of multiple service users with a range of physical health conditions. We work to a rehabilitation-based ethos, putting the individual patient at the centre of all we do with the aim of helping them return to community living. This role will require working across different teams and will require an experienced therapist to manage the different pressures and ensure the best care for patient. This is an exciting new post enabling the creation of the provision of Creative Therapy.

This post offers close multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working within a team. The role will involve the use of assessment and intervention skills to design and provide Creative Therapy service to patients. In addition to the delivery of individual and group therapeutic work, the role will involve the promotion of a psychologically informed environment. There will also be opportunities to consult and promote models of care informed by a recovery-based ethos. Part of this role will be to manage a Creative Therapy Assistant. You will receive regular clinical supervision.

An active engagement with activities of continuing professional development and research to support audit.

The successful candidate will join a supportive team of clinicians, committed to developing high quality care. There is a strong Creative Therapy team working across the trust who meet regularly to provide peer support.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the development and maintenance of the highest personal standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post-holder's manager.

To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice within the service areas, by exercising the skills of a reflexive and reflective practitioner. The post-holder will participate in regular professional supervision and appraisal and will maintain an active engagement with current developments in the field of Creative therapy and related disciplines.

To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and professional self-governance in accordance with service and Trust policies and procedures.

To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues of relevance to the service and client group.

To undertake such other duties and responsibilities, appropriate to the grade of the post, as may be agreed with the respective service manager

Both wards consist of multi-disciplinary teams including; doctors, a consultant practitioner, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and healthcare support workers. We are looking for nurses to join our highly skilled multi-disciplinary team to deliver the best services possible to the community of Alton.

The hospital has close links with the community, and we take direct admissions from home, step down admissions from acute hospitals and provide end of life care to the locality.

In addition to rehabilitation, Alton Community Hospital is looking to expand provision of services to prevent acute hospital admissions.
