Job summary
We are excited to invite you to apply for the role of SAS doctor within the Acute Medicine Department, part of the General Medicine Directorate at Southport Hospital
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. This includes adults' and children's accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women's and children's services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The post holder will undertake supervised work and participate in the Registrar on-call rota including nights and weekends (not longer than 12.5 hrs at a time).
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.
We are in the process of increasing the number of junior doctors in the department of Medicine at Southport Hospital.

About us
This post will be ideal for Doctors planning a career in general medicine or acute medicine, for those taking a break from their training to explore different specialties or overseas doctors who want to work in the UK in a supportive environment.
Whilethis is anon-training post, the post holder will be supervised by their clinical supervisor, be able to attend teaching sessions in the Trust, have an electronic learning portfolio (for a fee) and have access to a well-equipped library with IT facilities.
Key Tasks- To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team in order to support and help to deliver first class patient care.- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.- Assisting with teaching, training and assessment of junior staff and medical students, nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).- Deputise from time to time for absent colleagues, and exceptionally to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances to ensure the safe running of the Department.- When required, cover other areas within the hospital.- Participate and run outpatient clinics- Opportunity to participate in endoscopy
