Job summary
Applications are invited for a consultant post in Rheumatology Medicine Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust, based mainly at the Southport site, but travel to our Ormskirk site may be required (there is staff transportation to facilitate cross site working if you require).
There is no requirement in this post to undertake General Medicine sessions however if interested applicants wish to participate in GIM on-call rota or Acute Medicine sessions, this will be supported.

Main duties of the job
The standard job plan enclosed within the Job Description (attached) is a starting point and we encourage positive and active discussions around your work plan structure. Duties will include triaging patient referrals, providing Advice and Guidance to GPs, reviewing ward referrals for Rheumatology reviews and participating in the weekly full team MDT.
You will hold regular outpatient clinics, of which there are special interest clinics including early arthritis clinics and ankylosing spondylitis clinics, RSN Biologics clinics and joint injection clinics. The post-holder will be encouraged to participate in any of these or develop any other special interest areas such as MSK ultrasound.
There are bi-monthly service meetings that you are encouraged to attend wherein updates are shared from our colleagues in Management, Finance, Performance and Governance and we welcome your input into these meetings. There is also a monthly consultant team meeting with the wider Medicine Consultant work force.
