Job summary

This exciting opportunity for Band 4 Assistant Practitioners specialising in Scrub, requires motivated individuals with the appropriate skills, qualifications and experience in this field of practice. There are various full and part time hours available.

The enthusiastic individual, must possess the relevant qualifications, and be motivated to undertake this varied and exciting role. You will need to demonstrate flexibility within work, reliability and excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for learning and development in the role of Band 4 Assistant Scrub Practitioner.

The candidate must be flexible to a seven-day working week, innovative and dynamic in outlook, with a keen sense of team working. The candidates skills will support the dynamic and developing Perioperative Team at both Ormskirk and Southport Hospitals, deliver a high standard of patient care.

Main duties of the job

The ATP will undertake duties in the Operating Theatre, including the scrub Theatre role and the post-operative recovery role. They will work alongside the established Theatre teams, providing support to the current Registered Theatre Practitioners to provide safe high quality care to all our patients.

  • To provide holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings.
  • To work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, ODP's working to their nationally recognised code of conduct and Standards of Proficiency for ATPs .
  • To work as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To communicate effectively, with sensitivity and compassion, and to manage relationships with people, making reasonable adjustments where necessary.
  • To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service

About us

Southport Hospital consists of 5 operating theatres, 2 recovery rooms. We have an on call team that covers the main theatres 24/7. This is the acute site, covering emergency surgery, colorectal, general and trauma surgery. On our Ormskirk site we cover the following specialities: Trauma & Orthopaedics, ENT, Dental, Gynae, Paediatrics, Urology, General, and Maternity.
