Job summary

Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust are seeking to recruit a Directorate Manager on a 12month Secondment basis.

The successful applicant will be part of a progressing and exciting Clinical Business Unit and will manage a number of specialties within their remit.

The Directorate Manager will work as a triumvirate with each of the Clinical Directors and Matrons for those specialties' in line with the Clinical Business Unit (CBU) objectives whilst upholding the Trust SCOPE values.

The Directorate Manager will be responsible for a number of specialties within the medicine directorate. You will work alongside two other Directorate Managers with the support of three Operational Service Managers.

The Directorate Manager will be responsible for performance, budgets and specialty management.

Main duties of the job

Lead on the day to day operational management across the services within the Directorate ensuring delivery against all performance targets.

As a triumvirate ensure the specialties within the directorate deliver continuous quality improvement through longer term planning and delivery in alignment with Trust strategy.

Provide specific line management responsibilities within the Directorate.

Participate in the senior manager on call rota.

We are therfore seeking a dynamic , self starting Directorate Manager to join our busy Medicine Directorate, working closely with your Clinical Director and Matrons you will provide senior operational oversight of the services within your area.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations you will possess the skills and aptitude to drive service improvement , engage teams and deliver the operational objectives of the trust.

Ensure the needs of patients are paramount to the way in which services are delivered and to foster a culture in which all are treated with dignity and respect.

Manage the approval process for all aspects of leave (annual, study and professional) for Medical Staff and direct reports within the Directorate ensuring that services are maintained and allocations are contained within the limits as directed by Organisation Policy

To agree annual personal performance objectives with the Associate Director of Operations and ensure successful achievement.

Communicate effectively with both internal staff and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with performance targets.

Present to groups of staff of all levels, information, tailoring communication style to audience level.

On behalf of the ADO, where appropriate, take the lead for the effective management of complaints for the services covered by the Directorate in accordance with Organisation Policy including investigations, producing responses and meetings with patients and their relatives as required.

To develop and maintain productive collaborative working relationships within the organisation.

To assist with work associated with contingency and emergency planning across the organisation.

Prepare reports interpreting and advising on National Guidance relevant to the Directorate.

Contribute to and ensure the implementation of corporate and national policies in conjunction with the Clinical Director and Matron.
