Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join our team in order to lead our specialist pharmacist provision within the field of Clinical Trials and support our Trust multi-disciplinary team in Renal Medicine.
The introduction of a lead pharmacist in renal medicine will be a welcome addition to our clinical specialists and our Trust Renal Steering group in order to improve medicines optimisation for our renal patients and also to build upon work done by the group in meeting the targets set by the national Advancing Quality AKI audit.
The post holder will manage the Pharmacy Service's clinical input into the specialty of renal medicine within Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust. This includes reviewing current practices, procedures and policies in line with professional and government guidelines, local and national audit of the service provided to patients and planning, implementing and developing services as necessary.
The post involves participation in the late night and weekend rota, and in the emergency cover on-call rota (approximate frequency 1 in 20).

About us
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.
Acute care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk District General Hospital. This includes adults' and children's accident and emergency services, intensive care and a range of medical and surgical specialities. Women's and children's services, including maternity, are provided at Ormskirk hospital.
The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man.
The Trust also provides sexual health services for the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton.

We will support training towards a non-medical prescribing qualification if not already obtained, and any leadership/development opportunities that arise for the successful applicant.
Applicants should have a clinical diploma or equivalent qualification, have registration or be working towards registration as an independent non-medical prescriber, and experience in providing a clinical pharmacy service to renal patients.
The post holder will work with the Clinical Services Manager and other senior members of staff to develop clinical and other services within the Trust.The post holder will provide a Clinical Pharmacy service to designated wards.The post holder will manage the clinical pharmacy service within any Clinical Trials that the Trust is participating in. This includes reviewing current practices, procedures and policies in line with professional and government guidelines and standards and ensuring staff supporting clinical trials are trained to the required standard.The post holder will assist the Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager in providing clinical training and supervision of other departmental staff.
